John O’Keefe is an engineer enthralled with the arts. Throughout his 35 year career, John has channelled his passion for music, science and technology into buildings for the performing arts. Some of these include Toronto’s Princess of Wales Theatre, the Young Centre and The Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts. His more recent work includes the renovation of Vancouver’s Queen Elizabeth Theatre, the Bell Lightbox in Toronto and a landmark acoustical feasibility study for Stratford Ontario’s seminal Festival Theatre.
He has lectured through the world and currently teaches at the University of Toronto’s Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and has presented papers and lectures throughout the world. He is the winner of several awards including the Schreyer Award, his country’s highest distinction for engineering.
