Vancouver East Cultural Centre
Known affectionately as The Cultch, The Vancouver East Cultural Centre is, for many, the artistic heart of Vancouver.
The project was plagued with difficulties from the start. The renovation of a heritage building for a not for profit theatre group is just waiting for design and financial problems. All of which were overcome by the architectural team proscenium architects + interiors and ourselves.
Acoustical challenges included the preservation of the room’s well loved acoustics and the job of protecting the venue from exterior and interior noise.
The result is the restoration of a centre piece of Vancouver’s cultural life.
