Theatre Aquarius

O'Keefe Acoustics (working with Barman Swallow at the time) provided the complete acoustical and noise control design for this 750 seat theatre. The new home of Theatre Aquarius opened in September 1991. The building also includes a 150 seat performance/rehearsal space and a complete set shop. The emphasis of our work was on cost efficiency. Practical acoustical design was imperative as the theatre company had limited funding. In the end the project was contracted out below budget without compromising acoustical requirements. The room is characterised by its intimacy, clarity and good speech intelligibility. The resident company, touring musical acts and the Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra have all expressed their satisfaction with the acoustics.
