Aga Khan Museum

This museum is a gift to Canada from the Aga Khan. It houses beautiful treasures of the Ismaili art world. At its centre is the Recital Hall. An intimate 340 seat venue.

One of the acoustical goals was to showcase Ismaili and other eastern music – instruments that are more delicate and less powerful than those in the west. We designed the acoustics accordinly.

The Recital Hall was designed by Maki Architects but went through significant changes when we came on board as acousticians. The architects of record are Moriyama Teshima Architects. The building opened in 2013.
